Lets face it, we have all wanted a nice washboard stomach defined with solid, tight abs. The problem is that the majority of people fail to reach this goal due to various reasons including lack of motivation, poor eating habits or an ineffective workout routine. To make sure you don’t become one of these failure stories it’s vital to become determined in achieving your goal of a defined abdominal area.

One of the most common misconceptions about acquiring a six pack is that you’re only required to workout. Not only is this wrong but it could cause your goal of a solid abdomen to become unreachable. Aerobics and Isometrics are becoming more popular by the day not just in regards to ab workouts, but full body workouts. Aerobics such as running, swimming and stair climbing are extremely effective in burning any unwanted fat due, especially if you’re working out intensely. These are vital in the case that you may have a few extra pounds to lose, as leaving those pounds will only cause roadblocks in your road to success.

Isometric exercises focus on a single set of muscles by tensing and holding the position for a set amount of time. These are surprisingly effective and can be completed literally anywhere. For example, each time you walk through a door during the day flex your abdomen and hold it as you continue walking. Of course don’t make it appear you are having a bowel movement if you’re in public as this could be embarrassing! Work at a desk job? Try flexing your abdomen throughout the day as this can bring about noticeable changes quickly.

The last thing you should know before you get started is to not give up! Stay focused on your goal of tight, defined abs and push yourself until you have succeeded.
